Have Fun!

Have Fun.

Many students forget that this is one of the crucial aspects to becoming successful in college. In order to make the most out of your college experience you must find some activities around your school that you enjoy. Most likely your school has some sort of student answer center or place to go if you have questions. Find out what kinds of clubs or organizations your campus funds or sponsors.

Many students that I know really enjoy intramural sports. Intramurals are sports teams that are composed of kids who play for the joy of playing rather than competition. Often a small fee is required to buy team shirts and gear pertaining to the sport you so choose. The person who heads up the organization will organize round robin and bracket tournaments which can be a blast! If you need a help - visit paperell.com.

You don’t necessarily have to join intramurals to get out and get involved. It’s just as easy to grab a bunch of your friends and go outside and throw a football around. The nice part about doing that is you don’t have to pay any extra fees. Keep in mind that you don’t just have to play football because there are many options in college such as; tennis, swimming, or even golfing. These are just a few examples because there are many options and the choice is up to you. The main thing is to get your mind off of school for a little while.

It’s so important to do outside activities other than school. It is imperative that you participate in activities other than school because it helps keep your mind relaxed. If you don’t give your brain time to relax it will negatively affect how well you do in school. Your brain needs time off. One of the first things you should do is find something interesting for you to do at your school other than school work. In a sense having fun will help you do better in school. School should be a joyful and exciting time for you and your friends and when the four years are up, you should be sad to leave the place. A lot of college students are left out in that sense because they never learn anything new. College is a great time to grow and develop your character, achieve good grades, and make some great friends. That’s what college is all about, so make the effort to have a great time with all of your friends.

Wealth is a Mindset

Wealth is nothing more than a mindset.

No matter how you slice it, your capital can always be stripped from you. How you gain this wealth and acquire it in the first place is what truly matters. You learn that people may take everything from you, but they can never touch what knowledge you possess. If you have the right mindset and are intelligent, you can always replenish what you once had. The only thing that is definite is your mindset.

I have figured out just recently that this is truer than you could ever know. No matter your circumstances or situation you can always pick yourself up with the knowledge that you have. Have you ever heard, “knowledge is power?” Knowledge is power and you will do yourself a major favor if you invest in it. I am not perfect. I know I need to invest in my intelligence so, that I have the correct mindset. You need to do the same. Once you gain confidence in your ability to think and create new ideas, you hold the skills necessary to achieve whatever it is that you want. No matter the obstacles that come your way, you can now find a suitable solution. You can “think outside the box,” and complete the “puzzle.” Even if you get knocked down, with the correct mindset you can always rebuild. It may be difficult or even seem impossible, but with time and patience you will always conquer your path to success.

A perfect example of a person that shows how wealth is a mindset is: Steve Jobs. The founder of many different organizations and companies reached a low point in his life when he was “cast aside” by his own company through many different struggles. This company was “Apple.” “Apple’s,” Board of Directors eventually ran him out of the company, almost forcing his acceptance to resign. He left “Apple” soon thereafter. After he left “Apple” he was devastated like anyone would be. One day he was on the top of the world and the next he was no longer a part of something he started.

Did he pick himself up?

Yea, I would say so. He went on to buy Pixar Animation Studios and then watch it play a major role in creating the movies “Toy Story”, “ Monsters, Inc.”, and “Finding Nemo,” as well as many more. Oh, I almost forgot, when he returned to “Apple” the company developed and released the all important “iPod.”

Be on Time!

This is one of the most underrated aspects of professionalism and respect. My dad always told me that I should be ahead of schedule or arrive promptly to each and everything that I do. I didn’t really understand the meaning of what he said or the reality to what he was saying, until just recently. The aspect of arriving promptly to things has much "weight" in this world on many different levels. It can boil down to respect and respect in life is very important. It shows that you care and that you value whatever it is that you arrive promptly for.

Many students and people of my generation do not understand the severity of this concept. This idea becomes very prevalent when it comes to your classes. Even more importantly than your current day or future classes, is the ability to be prompt to your potential employers.

If you show up promptly to class, your teacher will show you respect and will appreciate that you care about their class. If you show up late, they take that offensively and whether they tell you or not, they will remember it. Believe me, it WILL factor into their decisions about participation and many other things that could be related to their class.

Likewise, you need to show up for a job interview promptly; preferably ahead of schedule. Most employers will not even have the interview if they find themselves waiting for you. This is because by not being on time, they figure that you’re not worth their investment. You're not worth their investment if you can’t show them you're responsible. This is especially true these days with the job market being as crazy as it is. This is just another way they can weed out the competition, if you will.

You can also apply this theory to just about anything you do. When you have an assignment due it needs to be submitted or turned in on schedule. If it's late, your professor will usually not accept it. This is good practice for your job after college. If you have to complete paperwork or anything by a certain date then it needs to be done at that specific time or you might find yourself finding another job. You have to realize that they don’t need you and that you can be replaced relatively quickly, unless you have a specific skill set which depends on your job. (Job security) This means that if you make a mistake or you are costing the company opportunities and money, you will be out of a job and another person will be hired to fill that void.

Being on time may make the difference between you and the next person.
